The Global War on Cash – Lessons from History — naked capitalism

Introduction

Regular readers will be fully up to speed on the Reserve Bank of India’s botched attempt at a handbrake turn style demonetisation thanks to Jerri-Lynn Scofield’s thorough coverage (see here, here and here for more background on this sorry tale). But the Indian government’s attempt at implementing a strategy of moving an economy away from physical cash (notes and coins) is only the latest — although the most aggressive seen to date — in a global battle to make cash obsolete. What’s new in India is that users of the payment system are being made to demonetise by coercion. But in every major economy, physical cash is under siege.

In this article I will show how central banks, the commercial banks (especially the Too Big to Fails), governments and technology companies have been waging a war on cash for decades. Inspired by the seminal work of Langdon Winner, who made the bold claim that technology has politics, I will also argue that drive to “reform” and “modernise” the payments systems we use, with its incessant focus on technology, has camouflaged the disproportionate power of some of the agents seeking to force this change.

Before diving in to the historical examples, it is worth considering in the context of the payments systems we use what, exactly, is physical cash? Leaving aside the obvious stores-of-value and means-of-exchange descriptions — and looking at cash as a payments system — it has some unique and rather special characteristics. Firstly, as a service, it is free at the point of use. When I pay you in cash, neither of us incur a fee for my settling my account with you by handing over notes or coins. Secondly, while the provision of cash as a service definitely does have costs associated with providing that service to us, the cost of that service is progressive. To put that another way, if your liquid net worth is $10,000, then it costs you little or nothing to store that wealth in cash. If, however, your liquid net worth is $1,000,000,000, it costs you an awful lot to store that wealth in physical banknotes.

After a victory was won following months of protesting against the oil pipeline at Standing Rock, it has been discovered that a huge leak was detected, contaminating the water that protesters were protecting.

According to the pipeline’s operator, the electronic monitoring equipment failed to detect a pipeline rupture, which released a huge 176,000 gallons of crude oil into a North Dakota creek, which is only 150 miles away from where the Standing Rock protests were taking place.

During recent months, thousands of people have been protesting against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, which would cross the Missouri river, as it would destroy sacred sites, but primarily there were fears that a leak would contaminate the drinking water supply of thousands of people. It now seems that those fears were not irrational.

Wendy Owen, a spokeswoman for Casper, Wyoming-based True Cos, which operates the Belle Fourth pipeline, said that it is not clear why the monitoring equipment that is in place did not detect the leak, which a landowner eventually discovered.

According to Bill Suess, an environmental scientist with the North Dakota health department, the landowner discovered the spill on the 5th December near Belfield, following which the pipeline was shut down immediately.

This group has helped in the last few weeks to arrest most of the next level of scalawags. This process has helped us, as well, to uncover how these scurrilous rats operated, enabling us to identify this devious operation almost to its highest levels. Our operatives are busy putting together the last pieces of this nefarious puzzle. The purpose of this final series of investigations is to ready our associates to perform the final global takedown of this monstrously intertwined evil. The Anunnaki created an appallingly devious organization of the dark. It permeated every nook and cranny of this globe. Thus, ferreting out these criminals has proven to be quite a study in the thought processes of these devious rats. Our joint intention has been to secure the funds and end massive global corruption. Some 130,000 gallons of the spill have entered nearby Ash Coulee Creek, which connects to the Little Missouri, a tributary of the Missouri River.

I’ve never thought I will be saying this, but I am honestly “disappointed” by how frail the 1% “elite” and their plans for a New World Order really are!The post-election actions of those who I once regarded as “all-powerful” and “in total control over the rest of us” have opened my eyes to their powerlessness,…

Why am I saying this? Let’s brake it down into three main discussion points and analyze them in detail:

1. The Powerlessness

Hillary Clinton’s unprecedented $1.2 billion campaign was composed of multiple elements that worked tirelessly to make her the next US President.

She was baked by the all-powerful elite, such as the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, George Soros (he has strong ties to several of the companies which produce electronic voting machines), etc. and she received big donations from Monsanto, Big Pharma and even Federal Reserve officials.

She was also backed by the once mighty MSM apparatus (mostly owned by the Rothschild family), which together with very influential public figures, stated countless times that Donald Trump will never become the US President.

She even employed a Million Dollar Professional Internet Troll Army to disrupting online conversations that were not showing her in a positive light, whilst promoting her agenda.

Knowing all of the above made me state more than once that she was already selected by The Powers That Be (TBTB) as the next US President and Donald Trump was being used as a distraction.

Boy, was I wrong!

Regardless of everything that was put at her disposal, she lost to Trump and I was really surprised by the outcome. It made no sense to me, so I started looking for answers: “was this the plan all along?”, “was Trump the selected one and Clinton the smokescreen?” or, maybe, “to them, it doesn’t really matter who wins, since they control both candidates anyway.”
